Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She was the first woman in her age group to be a member of the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her childhood years were spent between London and New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first show on stage in New Delhi. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an impressive career in recording and performing. She often joins her father on stage, which she has been doing for several years. The singer has released Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very vast as she has performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to music. After four years she played her first music debut with the sitar Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing together with George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was awarded to her by the British Parliament as the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and youngest recipient of this distinction.
